The Track-Only McLaren P1 GTR Produces 986bhp and Costs £1.98m

McLaren has revealed its first official image of the new McLaren P1 GTR. It is seen as faster, more resolute and track-only version of McLaren’s P1 hybrid HyperCar. This GTR will cost £1.98m and production begins next year. It will make its debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 15 and will go into production in June 2015.

The P1 GTR features a far more aggressive aero package with a massive fixed rear wing and race-spec diffuser and follows the footsteps of the McLaren F1 GTR, launched 20 years ago. Wider wheel arches, side skirts and track should also boost cornering grip and downforce.

Two huge exhausts pipes and bigger wheels wrapped in polished tyres complete the body modifications, but there are serious changes under the bonnet, too. The standard P1 produces a combined output of 903bhp, which is not less by any means and it has 727bhp 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 and 176bhp electric motor where as the GTR produces a massive 986bhp.

It will have a 0-62mph time of 2.5 seconds and kerb weight of 1,400kg. It will be built exclusively for customers who already own a P1. If you do happen to have £1.8 million to splash on the GTR, you’ll become part of the GTR programme which includes a series of dedicated track days around the world, and access to the F1 team’s simulators and fitness instructors.
