Whenever someone asks what you think of a boxed shaped vehicle which has front wheel drive with efficient engine and can hold up to seven passengers?

The first word that will cross your mind will most probably be “minivan” but when it comes to Ford, the whole meaning is changed with the Transit Connect Van which highly attributes minivan while staying in the van guise.

There will be three trims: XL, XLT and Titanium and two wheelbases will be available in the new Transit Connect Van. The short-wheelbase will be available only in the XLT which can seat five passengers, while the long-wheelbase is available in all three trims and has room for seven passengers.

No matter which trim you go for, you will get a 2.5 litre four cylinder Ford engine as standard churning out 169 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy is also remarkably well as the city stands at 20 mpg and the highway at 28 mpg. If you select a 1.6 litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 178 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, the numbers will rise to 22 in the city and 29 on the highway.

The XL trim includes as standard gray plastic bumpers and body side trim, vinyl seat coverings, vinyl floor covering, fold-flat second and third row seats, power front and second row windows, three 12-volt power outlets, dual front map lamps, keyless entry, three-row curtain airbags and 16-inch steel wheels. It is priced at £15,398 and available in long wheelbase only.

The XLT is having as standard: body colour bumpers and body-side trim, power adjustable heated side mirrors, fog lamps, second-row folding armrest, cloth seats, 4.2-inch colour LCD display, cruise control, back up camera, carpet-covered floors, rear window defroster and one touch up/down front and second- row windows. It is priced at £15,117 but if you opt for long wheelbase, you need to pay £1,185 and additional £471 for the EcoBoost Four engine.

The Titanium trim is available in the long wheelbase only and adds automatic headlamps, power adjustable heated side mirrors, chrome exterior trim, rain-sensing windshield wipers, leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, power-adjustable driver’s seat, two additional front audio speakers, dual-zone automatic climate control with sync and 16-inch aluminium wheels. It is priced at £17,766.
