The Mercedes Benz C-Class is set to be launched in UK in 2014 and it will come with a new wave of engines. These new Mercedes engines will include a twin-turbocharged V8 in the C63 AMG that could produce up to 493bhp. When the new C-Class was launched, it included three petrol engines:  a 168bhp 2.1-litre turbodiesel in the C220 Bluetec, a 154bhp 1.6 petrol in the C180 and an 181bhp 2.0-litre petrol in the C200. Mercedes plans to add another turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine in a C250 model. This will produce 208bhp and 258lb ft of torque.

Mercedes C-Class diesel engine line up will also have new version of the ECO C220 Bluetec engine accompanied by an aerodynamically optimised body and low rolling resistance tyres. This new engine will have class leading CO2 emission figures, close to 100g/km. The Mercedes C 250 Bluetec will be fitted with a 2.1 litre trubodiesel churning out 201bhp and 369lb ft of torque. All these new C-Class engines will be mated with an all new Mercedes nine-speed automatic gearbox. The new gearbox is internally named as NAG3 and known as 9G-Tronic.

Mercedes also plans to introduce a C300 Bluetec Hybrid engine which will produce 28bhp from its electric motor. This new C-Class will also be mated to a nine-speed auto. Also in 2014 C-Class will see a top of the range 4.0 litre twin-turbo petrol V8, fitted in the C63 AMG. This new engine will produce between 454bhp and 493bhp. The 7G-MCT SpeedShift automatic gearbox from existing AMG models will be kept in the C63 AMG. Mercedes will also launch a C300 Plug-In Hybrid in 2015. It uses the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine giving 249bhp together with a 67bhp electric motor.
