Replacement Engine Guide for Mini Engines

Mini has long established itself the British icon and from the beginning, it has used innovations that were never tried before. Who can forget side mounted engine and wheels pushed to extreme corners for the first time? At those times Mini was an engineering masterpiece with space and simplicity defined in design and engine. Today’s mini, is a little different. The brand Mini was sold to BMW and they vowed to revive the iconic brand by making it modern and compete in the hatch back car market that was dominated by German cars at that time.

BMW incorporated a lot of new technology in the Mini which on one hand, means increase in performance and comfort and on the other, is responsible for consistent faults and maintenance. If you have finally taken the decision to go for replacement engine, then these points would help you choose the right engine.

Different Types of Choices Available for Engine Replacement

You can take either of the three choices available.

Your local Mini dealer can replace the engine with a new crate engine but bear in mind, this would be way more expensive than any other choice and fitting would cost you a lot as well as expensive engine.

You can buy a used Mini engine and save yourself a fortune but this means that you are buying an engine with lots of mileage on it and possible flaws so its important that you find a low mileage engine and more impotently have written warranty with it.

Reconditioned Mini engine is the choice that proves to be the best as the reliability and performance are almost as good as new engine but price tag is way lower. Reconditioned Mini engine is a used engine that is compression tested and old parts with problems are replaced with new genuine parts.

Finding a reconditioned engine is a mission in itself. Visiting various engine suppliers and finding the engine that is right specification for your vehicle is not easy.
